New Video Series for McLean Hospital

Today we’re pleased to announce our partnership with McLean Hospital, a Harvard Medical School affiliate that is dedicated to improving the lives of people and families affected by psychiatric illness. Two years ago, we were approached by McLean’s On Track program to help them explain how they’re supporting patients suffering from a set of disorders that often strike in young adulthood: Mania and Psychosis and Bipolar Disorder. Our job for the first two episodes was to make these disorders relatable and intelligible, while encouraging young people and their families to seek the help they need. In the third episode, we explained the On Track program, which has developed an innovative and comprehensive approach to helping patients get back to happy, healthy lives.

New Work for World Wildlife Fund

When I started this company a little less than a decade ago I never dreamed we’d have the honor of working for the World Wildlife Fund. But here we are. I want to give a special thank-you to James Weinberg, a local artist here in Boston who provided the astounding illustrations for this video.

The Script:

The Arctic Ocean. It nurtures seals, whales, walruses, polar bears, and millions of seabirds, just to name a few. This wildlife lets humans thrive here too; indigenous peoples have relied on the Arctic Ocean for millennia.

Today, Arctic habitats are threatened by a warming planet and melting sea ice. Meanwhile, oil companies want to drill for oil and gas deep beneath the seabed. It’s a dreadful idea. Here’s why:

You’ve likely seen oil spills in the news. In 2010, The deadly Deepwater Horizon disaster dumped millions of barrels of oil into The Gulf of Mexico, fouling hundreds of miles of coastline, killing marine and coastal life, and making people sick.

Imagine a spill like that in a dark, remote place, a thousand miles from any port , with ice and brutal weather making cleanup essentially impossible.

Off shore drilling doesn’t just threaten life in The Arctic, it’s bad for the whole planet. To meet goals the US set to combat climate change, we must accelerate our transition to clean, renewable energy and leave fossil fuels under the Arctic Ocean.

In a few short weeks, the Obama Administration will decide whether to offer federal drilling leases in the Arctic Ocean, so the time to act is now. Tell the Obama administration to keep it under the sea. Visit wwf.to/savethearctic to tweet your support today.

We recently discovered that we might be kind of a big deal. Why? Well, it turns out that our “explainer video” for Exploozy, a fake startup that we invented out of whole cloth, has been selected for inclusion in the 18th Annual Animation Show of Shows. If you haven’t heard of it, The Animation Show of Shows is a feature-length compilation of the year’s best animation, curated by animation industry luminary and all-around great guy, Ron Diamond. Ron reached out to us after seeing that Exploozy was selected for screening at the Ottawa International Film Festival. Ron’s selections often go on to win big awards, including The Oscars.

Exploozy is in some very impressive company this year. See the full list of films in this year’s edition. Many are from award-winning directors and animators that we admire and, well, maybe even worship. We’re extremely honored to be keeping this kind of company, and we never imagined that a little side project would turn into something that’s being recognized as an artistic achievement. Honestly, we were just looking to give ourselves, and maybe a few other people, a good chuckle or two.

This year, The Animation Show of Shows will be screening at select theaters nationwide, with international screenings in the works, as well. Check out the schedule of screenings, which is growing all the time, and go see it in a city near you. I’ll be at the screenings in Gloucester, MA and Los Angeles.
